Raina Cobb, Oklahoma Native and singspiration released a new 5 track EP.  While anything less than 6 tracks is dubbed an EP, I find it difficult to call “YOLO” an EP, as it offers the complete package I expect from a CD.

This is Cobb’s second album and Raina has never left her standards of simplicity. Nor does she disappoint (as a fan will know from her earlier “JOURNEY”). This latest release offers up some of Cobb’s own soul, rendered sweetly in each song.  Cobb’s range of styles lets each listener see 2018 through a widespread lens and the year 2018 had some life changing experiences for Raina as her co-writer Misty Lanier was struck with a severe medical illness and one of her favorite fans and followers was taken from life in a car accident.

From the moment of the first note in track 1, “Gotta  Get Back”, the entire EP presents strolling down a country lane of memories with Cobb.  Each song offers lyrics that literally speak to your soul.

Cobb & songwriter Misty Lanier created some heart pulling love stories entwined with red dirt sound in “You are Mine”.  Strong guitar rhythm (Bart Weilburg) with outstanding percussion (James Purdy) lead the heartbeat of the song to march into your soul.

Cobb’s influence of Reba McEntire makes it hard to hear the difference in the two artists in the third Track (written by Cobb & Lanier).  “Settlin Down” has the tendency to be a boot scooter, making you to want to grab your partner and shuffle across a hardwood floor.

The only track not written or co-written by Cobb is the 4th track, “Twelve Days”. As you listen to the words of this song, it may make you think of a 12 step program.  A definite love song and ballad, Raina’s voice shows strength to amplify any style of music.

“True Love” written by Cobb, is the ultimate love song and a walk through life with Raina as you can visualize the lyrics, as the song ends with the announcement of who her TRUE Love is, co-producer and husband of almost 30 years K.C. Cobb.

The final track on this release is “Wither on The Vine” (Cobb & Lanier).  Although the final track on the EP, Wither on the Vine ends in a powerful way with an excellent guitar solo and the bringing back the roots of Cobb’s background, which is country.

Producer, Bart Weilburg & Co-Producer K.C. Cobb kept this artistry to more voice and emotion. With a list of the best of the best assisting in the studio works, Bart Weilburg (Electric and Acoustic Guitar), Stephen Tillman (Bass Guitar),  James Purdy (Drums and Percussion), and the harmonic voice of Shelly Phelps, “YOLO” fits the acronym “You only live once” loud and strong.

As Raina says, “Eat the Cake, Live for today, get the tattoo…”, as a listener you will find yourself listening to the epic release over and over.  “YOLO” will get into your bloodstream and infect you with an infection of music. Get back to your heart with YOLO, you only live once, but you will listen over and over.  Get your copy today, http://www.rainacobbmusic.com.
