Humble Spirit gives back

Not only a bass player with an outstanding voice, Coyette Camper (better known as a simple “Coyette”) and her Haywire band are stepping up to the plate.  El Reno was devastated a few weeks back when mother nature twisted through their quaint little community. Two lives were lost, and over 20 injured. The dust had barely settled, as the search was on for those injured Coyette texted the mayor, Matt White.  With arms wide open, Coyette offered assistance, and set out to piece together a benefit. Although, Coyette has held hundreds of benefits, the El Reno Strong benefit has grown into an experience that has humbled the female entertainer. With tears in her eyes, & a lump in her throat, Coyette states “This has humbled me.”  Camper has had to turn away over 40 bands/musicians. When asked what she needed from the community, “Show up, support & participate.”

As the interview wrapped up, Coyette with her Tamika acoustic guitar took a seat on the metal bleachers at the Denny Crump rodeo Arena.  Strumming to her original, “Angie’s song- Oklahoma Wind”, written for her little sister, you could hear the emotions in her voice as it echoed across the red arena dirt.  The humble spirit of Coyette Camper has made an impact in the spirit of El Reno and together with music lovers, it will pack the rodeo arena on Father’s day. To reiterate Camper’s words:  ” Show up, support & participate.”
