Maggie Abel, Photojournalist

Maggie Abel, born in Elvis's hometown, discovered music after moving back to her high school town of OKC two decades ago from Columbus, Ohio. A former reporter, photographer, and videographer, her natural inclination--if she can't go onstage to accompany the band--is to capture the essence of a musical event and share it to social media! In her non-Americana Media Gig Spot life, Maggie presides over the Oklahoma Accordion Club and founded the Oklahoma Theremin Society three years ago. She plays harmonicas in the seven-year-old Tango Posse, a five-piece band; and the six-year-old Sweet Dreams duo. Both entities are Sauced on Paseo regulars. She plays theremin (circa 1919) in Oklahoma Traditional Music Association's show band, "Oklahoma Traditions," appearing at fairs and charity walks. Her theremin has entertained at River Spirit Casino in Tulsa, the Ladies Music Club, Oklahoma Seniors Cabaret, downtown OKC library atrium, church benefits, private parties, and assisted livings. In her daily work she enjoys book editing and formatting; shooting, editing, and uploading video; poster and flyer creation; Apple iPhone and iPad tutoring; and social media. She is active in the Will Rogers Community Center drama group. You'll find her dancing ballroom, Argentine tango, polka, and tap.
